Healthy Nervous System Helps Increase The Immune Response

It's about your Immune System!

Viral infections and bacterial infections often exhibit similar symptoms and usually cannot be fully differentiated without proper lab testing. While bacterial infections usually respond well to antibiotics, these medicines have no effect on viral infections. The best weapon for viral infections such as the common flu or Coronavirus, begins with building a strong and healthy immune system.  Regular adjustments can help the nervous system to function more normally by addressing subluxations in the spine and reducing the body's sympathetic nervous system's stress response. Because having a misalignment in the spine increases the body's stress response, which then decreases immune system function, adjustments help to allow the body maximum capacity to heal and repair.  In a 2010 study by Chiropractic & Osteopathy, measurements of immunoglobulin G and immunoglobulin M were taking before and after a single chiropractic adjustment in a study of 74 people. The groups were split into patients that had an adjustment with cavitation (that "pop" that you often hear when you're adjusted), adjustment with no cavitation, and a control group. Both groups that were adjusted, whether with or without cavitation, showed a significant increase in immunoglobin G (IgG), the most common antibody that helps fight against infections when blood tests were taken just 20 minutes after the adjustment.

Immunoglobin M (IgM), which is the largest antibody and the first line of defense to an antigen, also significantly increased when blood samples were taken 2 hours after the adjustment. This research concludes that these results show that spinal manipulation helps boost the body's immune response with or without cavitation. *Note: Tilson Chiropractic FamilyCare takes the Coronavirus crisis seriously and hopes everyone does as well. It is important to remember that feeling great due to regular adjustments does not protect someone from getting sick. Cornavirus is extremely contagious. We urge everyone to remember that no matter how healthy, observe current social distancing protocols while continuing healthy proactive habits.
