Why Do I Need Adjustments If I’m Not In Pain?Chiropractic is about healing the brain-body connection through the spine. Chiropractors are specialists of the nervous system, composed of the brain, spinal cord and all the accompanying nerves. The goal of adjusting the spine is to restore proper motion, improve spinal function and remove interference from the nervous system. By relieving subluxations of the spine, your nerves can properly relay information to and from your brain to the rest of your body. Only 10% of nerves are able to process pain, leaving many subluxations to go undetected while affecting up to 90% of your nerves. Visiting your chiropractor regularly to assess your spinal biomechanics and nervous system can help detect, maintain and prevent dysfunction throughout your body.

What is the "Popping" Sound I Sometimes Hear During Adjustments?"The popping noises are called "cavitations" and are caused by gas bubbles being released from spinal joints during an adjustment. This noise is completely normal and does not cause any pain or discomfort. Synovial fluid is produced from the joints of your spine. By-products of synovial fluid are oxygen, nitrogen, and CO2 gasses. When a joint is gapped, the gas is released. Once the joint opens up, the synovial fluid re-lubricates the joint surface and normal motion is restored. Just as you "pop" a bottle of champagne, the results are worth celebrating!
